In Raahe, Nordkalk has two lime kilns which are connected to SSAB’s Raahe Steel Works. The limestone burned in the kilns is limestone from Nordkalk’s own deposits in Storugns on Gotland, Sweden and Verdal, Norway. There is also a briquette plant where the fine rest material of quicklime production is pressed into briquettes for the steel plant’s use. This ensures an effective raw material utilisation.
