Nordkalk manufactures limestone powders, quicklime and slaked lime. The acidic compounds such as different sulphur, chlorine and fluorine compounds can be removed from the flue gas before the chimney. This takes place by neutralising the compounds with limestone-based products.
The choice of a suitable lime product is based on the cleaning method used and its cost-effectiveness. Depending on the cleaning method some of the byproduct of the cleaning can be recycled in the construction industry e.g. in the making of gypsum board.
Flue gas cleaning methods are usually divided into the wet, half-dry and dry methods.
